Kevin Lam CFP® CPRS™
Certified Financial Planner™
Certified Personal Retirement Specialist™
Growing up during the 1960s in New York City, I learned my ABCs and 123s riding the D, F, GG, 4, 5, 6 and many other subway lines. I also learned the joy of exploration and discovery, and realized that complexity can be mastered.
As a college student school bus driver ferrying students through the narrow streets of Northampton and the winding road over the Mount Holyoke Range, I learned how to provide safety and comfort for my passengers through the power of gentle acceleration and braking.
Amherst College is where I exponentially expanded my capabilities to contemplate broadly, and sense deeply. I majored in economics, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated with highest honors.
After a finance career that spanned more than 45 years, with time at Morgan Stanley, Citicorp, and Macquarie Investment Management, I enjoyed the first several years of retirement earning my CFP® and CPRS™ certifications and serving as a pro bono planner to several non-profit grantees of the Foundation for Financial Planning.
Through my career work and my volunteer service, I gained the expertise and wisdom to help fellow seniors 60yrs+ navigate personal finance and life pathways. I founded Age Wisely Financial to provide guidance on this journey.
Volunteering to help others is a deep commitment of mine. The three non-profits where I serve as a pro bono financial planner include one supporting families battling cancer, another helping widows and widowers, and a third assisting exonerees (folks who were wrongfully convicted and imprisoned, and subsequently proven innocent and released). More information about my pro bono service can be found in this article and this video.
My son and daughter live in Los Angeles and abroad. I proudly and lovingly cheer them on as they launch their careers. The tax-friendly state of Delaware is where I live and enjoy the flora at nearby Longwood Gardens and the fauna in my even closer backyard. I make trips to Philadelphia and New York City to visit museums and attend ballet and theater performances.
